What engine oil does a BMW?

Is Mobil 1 approved for BMW?

Can I use Castrol in BMW?

BMW has been endorsing Castrol since the early 1990’s and I have to say that I’ve never had anything but good results using Castrol. I think it is a great oil and seems to do really well in BMWs. It is reasonably priced, and you pretty much can get it anywhere. If you are using it and like it, stick with it.

What happens if you put regular oil in BMW?

While commonly used natural motor oil is refined from crude oil, it can still contain unwanted elements that make it through this process. These small minerals can gradually cause unwanted buildup in an engine which can hurt the performance and the lifespan of the engine.

Is Castrol EDGE BMW approved?

Does it say BMW long life approved in the back? Yes you can, but… Castrol 0w-30 is a better choice, also BMW 5w-30 or M1 0w-40 are all better oils. Yes, that is fine.

Can I use any 5W-30 oil in my BMW?

Oil for BMW’s must have an API rating of SM or higher; your recommended SAE grade* will vary based on climate. A few of the recommended oils for your 2007 BMW include Mobil 1 SAE 0W-40 and Valvoline SynPower SAE 5W-30. If you live in a cold weather climate, the use of the 0W-40 is best.

Can I use any 5W-30 oil in my BMW?

The BMW 5W30 motor oil is the factory engine oil approved for almost all BMW engines, except for BMW Diesel and some M3/M5/M6 engines. It’s the only oil approved in the US for BMW’s turbo N20 N54 N55 engines, including the S55 engine in the 2015+ F80 M3/F82 M4. It can also be used in most MINI engines.
